“A chair to sit on” is what most folks who come to HGRM don’t have.”
HGRM-Household Goods Recycling of Massachusetts, is a not-for-profit agency that collects, stores, and distributes furniture and household goods to those in need. “A Chair to Sit On” is an event being held to raise funds and awareness.
Artists from several surrounding towns took old chairs and transformed them into pieces of art to be auctioned off on May 1st at Powers Gallery in Acton, Massachusetts.
I’m honored to say that I am one of those artists. I started with an old wooden chair and sculpted flowers from recycled materials-paper, cardboard, as well as plaster-to create a sculptural wall piece entitled “Night Garden”.

1. Cardboard Flower, 2. Cardboard wrapped in several layers of newspaper,
3. Wrapped cardboard flower primed with Gesso and painted

Final wall piece with painted flowers and hand drawn detailed pattern.
Auction is for interested bidders only as space is limited.

Congratulations to HGRM and the success of the auction!
They were able to raise over $11,000 to help those in need.
